{"id":328,"date":"2017-08-21T08:00:45","date_gmt":"2017-08-21T13:00:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.unmc.edu\/infectious-disease\/?p=328"},"modified":"2017-08-11T10:44:52","modified_gmt":"2017-08-11T15:44:52","slug":"are-contact-isolation-precautions-cp-necessary-when-caring-for-patients-infected-or-colonized-with-endemic-mrsa-or-vre","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.unmc.edu\/infectious-disease\/2017\/08\/21\/are-contact-isolation-precautions-cp-necessary-when-caring-for-patients-infected-or-colonized-with-endemic-mrsa-or-vre\/","title":{"rendered":"Are contact isolation precautions (CP) necessary when caring for patients infected or colonized with endemic MRSA or VRE?"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"panel body-content\"><div class=\"panel__container\"><p>Researchers from the University of Nebraska Medical Center Division of Infectious Diseases and Nebraska Medicine Department of Infection Control and Epidemiology recently published results from a two-year observational study indicating that routine use of contact isolation precautions (CP) are <u>not <\/u>needed in caring for patients with methicillin-resistant <em>Staphylococcus aureus<\/em>\u00a0(MRSA) and vancomycin-resistant enterococci (VRE).
