Once again, Dr. Maureen Tierney, leader of Nebraska\u2019s Healthcare Associated Infections Program, championed the drafting of the proclamation and received support from the Governor for this observance.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-2172 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.unmc.edu\/infectious-disease\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/54\/2018\/11\/nebraska-proclamtion.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"763\" height=\"283\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.unmc.edu\/infectious-disease\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/54\/2018\/11\/nebraska-proclamtion.jpg 763w, https:\/\/blog.unmc.edu\/infectious-disease\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/54\/2018\/11\/nebraska-proclamtion-300x111.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blog.unmc.edu\/infectious-disease\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/54\/2018\/11\/nebraska-proclamtion-120x45.jpg 120w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 763px) 100vw, 763px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Formerly known as\u00a0<em>Get Smart About Antibiotic Week<\/em>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/antibiotic-use\/week\/get-involved.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>US Antibiotic Awareness Week<\/em><\/a>\u00a0is an annual observance designated by the CDC to bring awareness to healthcare professionals and the public on the threat of antibiotic resistance and the importance of using antibiotic appropriately.<\/p>\n<p>The CDC has prepared\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/antibiotic-use\/week\/toolkit.html?s_cid=NCEZID-AntibioticUse-044\">a partner toolkit<\/a>\u00a0for institutions that want to participate in this event.
