We are a growing division, filled with faculty at all stages of their careers, and their collective academic prowess has our division leading the pack. Our recent Department of Medicine Research report for 2017 pegged UNMCID as the <strong>#1 Division for the number and amount of extramural contracts\/awards and #2 for number of publications<\/strong> (out of 10 Divisions in Internal Medicine).\u00a0We recently had several posters and oral presentations presented at\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/blog.unmc.edu\/infectious-disease\/2018\/03\/05\/croi-2018-the-official-unmc-id-guide-of-where-we-will-be\/\">#CROI2018<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/blog.unmc.edu\/infectious-disease\/2018\/04\/17\/shea-2018-the-official-guide-to-finding-unmc-id-in-portland\/\">#SHEA2018<\/a>\u00a0and<a href=\"https:\/\/blog.unmc.edu\/infectious-disease\/2018\/04\/20\/ecsmid-2018-the-official-unmc-id-guide-of-where-we-will-be\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u00a0#ECCMID2018<\/a>. We are proud of our faculty and would like to share some of their accomplishments with our followers.<\/p>\n<p><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-289 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.unmc.edu\/infectious-disease\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/54\/2017\/07\/Alison-Freifeld-Infectious-Diseases-2013-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"63\" height=\"63\" \/>Dr. Alison Freifeld<\/strong> has been invited to speak at #IDWeek2018 on new developments in the management of cancer patients, and she is on the steering committee for the American Council on Education (ACE) program at UNMC: goal is to internationalize our campus\/curriculum\/student body.\u00a0 This program is mandated by the Chancellor and reflects UNMC\u2019s commitment to expanding our efforts in international engagement and global health education and research.<\/p>\n<p><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-416 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.unmc.edu\/infectious-disease\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/54\/2017\/10\/Jasmine_Marcelin-InternalMed-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"69\" height=\"69\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.unmc.edu\/infectious-disease\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/54\/2017\/10\/Jasmine_Marcelin-InternalMed-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/blog.unmc.edu\/infectious-disease\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/54\/2017\/10\/Jasmine_Marcelin-InternalMed-800x800.jpg 800w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 69px) 100vw, 69px\" \/>Dr. Jasmine Marcelin<\/strong> was recently co-recipient of the award for Outstanding multi-site Quality Improvement Project for 2017 \u2013 Mayo Clinic Quality Review Board {Project: Management of Febrile Neutropenia (MOFN), completed as a fellow with Drs. Jack O&#8217;Horo and Omar Abu Saleh}. Dr. Bares also collaborated with colleagues in the UNMC Specialty Care Clinic (Dr. Susan Swindells, Josh Havens PharmD, and Ann Fitzgerald APRN) on\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sciencedirect.com\/science\/article\/pii\/S2405452617301337\">Implementation of an HIV clinic-based interprofessional education curriculum for nursing, medical and pharmacy students<\/a>, published recently in the <strong><em>Journal of Interprofessional Education and Practice<\/em><\/strong>.
