The Society of Teachers of Family Medicine Medical Student Education Conference took place in Anaheim, California from February 9-12. Several UNMC Family Medicine faculty members represented the department as presenters at the annual conference.<\/p>\n

Associate Professors, Jessica Koran-Scholl, PhD, and Birgit Khandalavala, MBBS, had several opportunities to present their research with a poster, special topics breakfast, and a workshop.<\/p>\n

The poster titled, “Obesity Bias: How to Deliver a Medical Student Education Workshop” reviewed how to “incorporate learning about obesity bias in your teaching environment”. They also spoke at a special topics breakfast on\u00a0“Starting the Conversation about Weight Management”. The workshop presentation covered “Are We Biased Toward Patients With Obesity? Impact and Mitigation Strategies”.<\/p>\n

Instructor Liliana Bronner, MHSA, MBA, and Associate Professor, Jenenne Geske, PhD, in partnership with several others presented the session, “Interprofessional Education Project: Creating Health Education Interventions for Behavioral Health Clients”. Project authors also included\u00a0Bill Baerentzen; Chia Chang, PharmD; Tamara Dolphens MPAS; Jennifer Hickman PharmD; Jill Jensen MPAS; Brent Khan EdD; Margaret Ofe Fleck PhD; and Sheila Williams MPAS.<\/p>\n
