{"id":834,"date":"2016-12-07T09:48:15","date_gmt":"2016-12-07T15:48:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.unmc.edu\/familymedicine\/?p=834"},"modified":"2016-12-07T09:48:15","modified_gmt":"2016-12-07T15:48:15","slug":"department-adopts-a-family-for-the-holidays","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.unmc.edu\/familymedicine\/2016\/12\/07\/department-adopts-a-family-for-the-holidays\/","title":{"rendered":"Department adopts a family for the holidays"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"panel body-content\"><div class=\"panel__container\"><p>The Department of Family Medicine joined together to gather donations for this year&#8217;s Adopt-A-Family program through UNMC and Nebraska Medicine.<\/p>\n<p>Family Medicine was assigned to a cystic fibrosis patient&#8217;s family which included three children (ages 1 year, 3 years, and 8 years) and their grandmother.<\/p>\n<p>Seventeen faculty and staff members raised more than $500 to purchase gifts including grocery gift cards, gas cards, clothing, socks, story books, pajamas, coloring books, and toy cars and trucks.<\/p>\n<p>Instructor, Lili Bronner, MHSA, MBA, spearheaded the efforts within the department.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The whole project made me reflect about the things this holiday season is for &#8211; spreading good tidings, cheer, hope and encouragement to one our many patients who are struggling,&#8221; Bronner said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Everyone&#8217;s ability to give, large or small, made a difference!&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Department of Family Medicine joined together to gather donations for this year&#8217;s Adopt-A-Family program through UNMC and Nebraska Medicine.
