Wester brings students together at learning sites

The National Center for Interprofessional Practice and Education is committed to bridging the gap between how current and future health professional create people-centered and outcomes focused teams to learn together and develop real-world skills. The National Nexus team visited the Omaha team on October 19th.

Family Medicine Associate Professor, Dr. Rebecca Wester, collaborated with Claudia Chaperon PhD, ARPN, the principal investigator to bring APRN students from the College of Nursing with Pharmacy students from the College of Pharmacy together to learn Comprehensive Geriatric Assessments at skilled nursing facilities.

Dr. Wester serves as Medical Director at the Ambassador Skilled nursing facility, one of two learning sites.   She is very involved with bringing academic and community partners together to better educate future healthcare professionals. Learning in interprofessional teams builds real-world competencies through hands-on practice.
