Mental Matinee

Family Medicine faculty and staff gather on the first Thursday of every other month when Associate Professor and Director of Behavioral Health, Jessica Koran-Scholl, Ph.D, hosts Mental Matinee, an lunch hour discussion that uses television and film to explore the presentation of behavioral health topics, disorders and their sequela.

At the latest Mental Matinee, Dr. Koran discussed Disruptive, Impulse-Control and Conduct Disorders using video clips from T.V. and movies like Family Guy, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory and The Good Son.

Objectives for the November 5 presentation included:

  1. To categorize the Disruptive, Impulsive Control and Conduct Disorders
  2. Review diagnostic criteria for these disorders
  3. Review differential diagnoses
  4. To list predisposing factors and patient characteristic common to each of the disorders
  5. To review treatment strategies and prognosis for the Disruptive, Impulse Control and Conduct Disorders
