Welcome… to the now OFFICIAL blog of the University of Nebraska Medical Center’s Emergency Medicine Residency Program!
For those of you new to who we are and what we do, our residency is comprised of 24 residents undergoing a three year training program in emergency medicine at a major joint academic/community medical center in Omaha, Nebraska. As a recognized trauma center and national leader in fields such as transplant and oncologic care, our facilities attract a wide variety of patients and pathology from which we are fortunate to learn from each day. Our involvement with various rural EDs across Nebraska afford us unique opportunities to support our local community, as well as witness a side of EM not always available to your typical residency program.
We are a close-knit, hard-working, hard-playing group with diverse backgrounds from all across the country with common goals of becoming excellent EM physicians and leaders. Please take some time to explore our department/residency website and learn more about us at (http://www.unmc.edu/emergency/residency.htm).
I recognize there may be a variety of audiences that come across this page. All are welcome! My hope continues to be that this might serve as a forum for students, residents, and alumni alike to keep in touch with the pulse of our residency, our city, and our specialty as a whole. The site will be moderated by our 2013-2014 chief residents (myself, Chris Acker, and Erica Diede), as well as our PD/APD’s (Drs Claudia Barthold and Chad Branecki), with continuing contributions and thoughts from members and friends of the UNMC EM residency. So with that, it begins…
