Project & Field Staff Assistant

SALARY: $18/hour

The position requires experience working with adults and with hard-to-reach populations. Staff will complete a comprehensive training on research protocols and be certified before beginning work on the project. This person must have a high school degree or equivalent and have experience in psychology, human development, behavioral health, public health, substance use treatment or prior experience conducting survey research. Bilingual Spanish/English is preferred.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Must be reliable, organized, dependable, and able to work as a team member
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with participants and UNL staff and supervisors
  • Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license, vehicle insurance, and reliable transportation
  • Must be familiar with principles of survey research (recruitment, asking questions, editing surveys)
  • Must have access to a computer, internet, cellphone, and email
  • Must be comfortable handling cash and cash receipts
  • Must be comfortable using a computer for data entry
  • Must attend project trainings and weekly team meetings
  • Position will require 40 hours per week, including some weekend days and frequently between the hours of 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
  • Employment is expected to last 2 years, with the potential for longer term employment, assuming satisfactory work

REQUIRED EDUCATION:

High School Diploma

PREFERRED EDUCATION:

Associates Degree in Social Science or Related Field

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

This person must have a high school degree or equivalent and have experience in psychology, human development, behavioral health, public health, or prior experience conducting survey research.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

Experience in the area of substance use treatment is preferred

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Ability to establish reliability on survey measures.

Detail-oriented, highly organized, able to work independently with minimal supervision.

PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Experience working with people from diverse backgrounds

Knowledge of survey research and interviewing protocols

Spanish language preferred

REQUIRED LICENSE/CERTIFICATION:

Reliable access to a vehicle and valid driver’s license

PHYSICAL DEMANDS OF JOB:

The position will require employees to complete surveys with adults in community field office settings. The position may require employees to be able to lift survey materials (up to 15lbs) into vehicles for transport to and from sites. Regular travel may be required. Employees must also be able to work from home on computer related tasks.

This position is grant funded and a background check is required.
