Tobacco Cessation Educator

Tobacco Free Nebraska is looking for a talented person to join our team. This person should be passionate about public health and helping Nebraskans quit tobacco and reducing tobacco-related death and disease. A day in this position could include: Providing technical assistance to local communities and sub grantees on tobacco prevention and control best practices. Planning, directing, and overseeing tobacco prevention control initiatives and programs related to increasing tobacco cessation in Nebraska including but not limited to the oversight of the Nebraska Tobacco Quitline, increasing referrals, dissemination of call data, development of materials, and completion of associated reports. Engaging healthcare providers and facilities in tobacco cessation efforts including mental health providers and substance use treatment facilities. Planning, directing, and overseeing tobacco prevention and control initiatives and programs related to reducing tobacco-related health disparities, including oversight of contracts, grant proposals and reports, and providing technical assistance. Developing and maintaining effective relationships/partnerships with internal and external partners and work in collaboration with these partners and others toward the achievement of the grant goals and strategies. Representing the Tobacco Free Nebraska program among national and state partners and provide responses to requests from these organizations as needed. Assisting in preparing grant applications, budgets, and progress reports. Developing contracts and sub grants, and preform sub recipient monitoring for compliance with federal and agency guidelines, and to ensure work is completed according to the scope of work. Planning, organizing, preparing, and distributing information, educational materials, and training sessions on best practices in tobacco control and prevention. Working with an amazing team. This position includes some day travel and occasional overnight travel. We’re looking for someone who is a team player and able to balance needs, requirements, work load, etc. for multiple projects. This person is self-motivated and works independently with minimal supervision.
