Temp Community Health Liaison – 1 year

Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) is a state agency that, “Helps People Live Better Lives” every day. The Division of Public Health within DHHS, has an immediate opening for a Temporary Community Health Liaison. This is a temporary assignment scheduled to last 1-year from the date of hire with the potential for extension or renewal. The Community Health Liaison acts as the main point of contact for the Community Strike Team developing and conducting communication plans with local entities requesting site visits, engaging local service providers and community entities in creating responses to recommendations by the strike team, and acting as liaison and facilitator for action planning/implementation. This role builds relationships with community partners; gathers input and feedback regarding community culture, needs, and pain points. The Community Strike Team serves the community by assisting local entities integrate business practices and requirements with infectious disease prevention. The Strike Team coordinates with community entities such as businesses, schools, social establishments, major events, sports complexes, airports, to provide infectious disease prevention assessment, logistics planning, training, education, response, prevention resources, identify problems, organize a response and deploy experts to address critical issues/instances. These functions are performed through the performance of disease investigation; determining root cause, path of spread, elimination of spread and establishing clear directions to prevent initial or re-infection, and then hardwiring change into the culture, environment and accepted business practices. The Strike Team will work with the local public health department to fully investigate the source of initial infections by back-tracing as well as forward contact tracing. Statistical Analyst III

Under limited supervision, conduct parts of statistical data analyses, perform data collection activities, interpret information, and design methodologies for reporting Medicaid analytics. Will contribute to data interpretation and mapping for data conversion. Will contribute input on methodologies for studies, as expertise allows. Other duties as assigned. Participate on a team in a service driven culture to provide accurate, timely, actionable data. Conduct statistical analysis on Medicaid claims and eligibility data, assimilate multiple data sources into usable analyses for DHHS leadership and stakeholders. Contribute to presentations in a multitude of formats for audiences including agency staff, health industry executives, and public consumers using established mathematical methods and innovative mediums. Collaborate on joint projects with other divisions’ analytics teams to serve the State’s most vulnerable populations though informed decision making and service provider accountability. Contribute to Division, State, and Federal reports according to specifications to appropriate reporting authorities. 

Part-Time Temporary Community Health Educator (1-year)

Under general supervision, assesses community-wide and group health needs and community health education programs, writes community health education programs and coordinates the dissemination of community health education and health promotion activities; performs related work as assigned.

DHHS Safety/Emergency Preparedness & Response Coordinator

Under administrative direction, this position will manage Central Operations safety, security, and continuity planning efforts.
You will:
• Plan, organize, coordinate, and administer the safety/emergency preparedness and response plans in programs, coordinating with the Incident Command – Emergency Preparedness Unit
• Establish policies and procedures to comply with local, state, and federal laws and regulatory agency requirements
• Ensure each DHHS building has an Emergency Action Plan (EAP), conducts annual fire/severe weather drills, and provide on-site training when needed
• Knowledge of safety requirements within office & healthcare program buildings as it relates to emergency/disaster planning
• Establish safety committees at each DHHS office location, which allows an opportunity for staff to address a variety of issues, which can be significant in nature
• Conduct safety assessments as required by regulatory agencies (IRS, CMS, JCAHO, etc)
• Serve as the DHHS Operations liaison with the Federal and State Emergency Management Agencies (as assigned) to develop and implement operational plans for responding to external or internal emergency situations
• Oversee building security for all DHHS building to include management of the badge access control systems, security consultation, working with Nebraska State Patrol, and conducting formalized training on safety technology to allow for troubleshooting of access control systems
• Up to date with security technology (card access control systems, cameras, etc)
• Coordinates the collection and compilation of administrative data related to the program; and performs related work as assigned.
• Resolves problems that impair the effectiveness of the program and maintains regular communication with Unit Administrator regarding expenditures, issues, and solutions.
• Oversees Develops templates, protocols, policies, and procedures related to public health emergencies.
• Be responsible for development and maintenance of Continuity of Operations Plans (COOP) for DHHS Operations
• Potential for travel or overnight stays around 5% of total time. Qualifications / Requirements
