Refugee Program Specialist

NE DHHS’s Division of Public Health is seeking a Refugee Program Specialist.

Perform program planning, budgeting, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation for the Refugee Youth Mentoring and Refugee School Impact program. Monitor programs for program effectiveness and compliance. Review and audit refugee program contractor payment requests for compliance with State and Federal laws. Review and audit refugee program eligibility and health screening payment requests. Provide program and fiscal guidance, oversight, and support for refugee contractors. Research and write reports and other documents to formulate materials to cover the Refugee Resettlement program. Provide support for data system users by researching, resolving and responding to system issues and user inquiries, serving as a liaison between the business end users and application developers to answer work flow and design related questions. Work with application developers to develop reports and make system updates. Develop training materials and provide training to agencies on refugee resettlement programs and the data system. Research established best practices and make recommendations for quality program service delivery. Draft program contracts and subawards, enter them into the procurement process and follow-up until they are approved. Serve as active leader on refugee program committees and/or advisory groups concerned with the functions and activities of the Refugee Resettlement Program. Plan, direct, and coordinate the collection and compilation of statistical, economic, refugee program data to assess the effectiveness of services and for future initiatives/programs/services to meet identified needs. Hospital Preparedness Program Coordinator

The NE DHHS’s Division of Public Health is seeking a motivated professional to provide leadership and guidance to healthcare and public health emergency response preparedness partners.

As the Hospital Preparedness Program (HPP) lead for Nebraska, you will help prepare the healthcare system to save lives during emergencies and disasters. Duties include: Provide oversight for HPP, including the development of program strategy, work plan items, and subawards. Coordinate the design and implementation of HPP activities at the state and local levels. Ensure linkages and collaboration with other emergency response programs at State and local levels. Prepare and process programmatic, financial, and grant documentation. Develop and monitor the Work Plan for HPP activities including writing planned activities and outputs, tracking progress for activities and outputs, and reporting information to federal partners. Oversee the subawards/contracts and activities of the Healthcare Coalitions and other partners. Monitor subawards for programmatic outcomes. Receive and review HCC-level plans (e.g. Preparedness Plans, Response Plans), as well as quarterly reports (e.g. progress reports, budget documentation, supplemental material, plans, etc.). Ensure financial oversight of HPP subrecipients to include conducting site visits/desk reviews and/or working with outside contractors. Manage applicable supplemental grants for the HPP program (e.g. Ebola Supplemental). Work with other state partners on Ebola planning activities. Perform other duties as assigned. Must be available for potential travel or overnight stays (less than 5% of total time). Research Scientist

The University of Washington has recently developed the Firearm Injury & Policy Research Program to conduct research on causes of firearm injuries, and the effectiveness of laws and policies in reducing firearm related injuries and deaths.  We are seeking to hire a research scientist to become part of this program and develop, lead and conduct research studies on firearm injuries.  The job announcement is below.
