Penn State Non-tenure track Research Assistant Professor

Faculty Announcement:  Position is one-year appointment contingent on funding available and may be renewed yearly depending on availability of funds. The successful candidate will participate in conducting research projects, writing technical manuscripts, and preparing research proposals in the field of agricultural safety and health, and statistical analysis of agricultural injury cases. The position requires submission of competitive proposals to provide additional support through external funding. This position requires independent research capability with previously mentioned skills. The resident instruction component includes teaching undergraduate BioRenewable Systems courses, advising undergraduate students, and providing leadership for the BioRenewable Systems major.

Additional responsibilities include handling and protecting confidential and sensitive student data with integrity; collecting data from surveys and data bases to assess risk factors of farm equipment injuries; developing statistical models based on exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis; writing technical manuscripts to be submitted reputable peer-reviewed journal; preparing research proposals in the field of injury prevention, safety training evaluation, and injury data base assessment; handling and protecting confidential and sensitive data with integrity.

 

Qualifications: A Ph.D. in agricultural engineering or agricultural and biological engineering; Minimum two years of post-doctoral experience working with agricultural injury data-base systems and two years with undergraduate advising; strong spoken and written communications skills; knowledge and experiences in fatal and non-fatal injury analysis; knowledge, experience, and proven record (supported with journal publications) in the design of agricultural safety interventions, database development, FAIC coding, and standardized coding of occupational injuries and illnesses; knowledge and experience in developing safety training programs; knowledge and experience in teaching and academic advising of undergraduate students in Biorenewable industries.
