Assistant Professor Epidemiology

Position available: The Division of Epidemiology, Department of Population Health at NYU Langone Health is seeking candidates for a full-time position in epidemiology, at the Assistant Professor level to play a key role in expanding a major initiative housed in one of the nation’s leading population health departments (http://pophealth.med.nyu.edu/).  The City Health Dashboard is a new online resource developed by NYU to help the 500 largest US cities leverage the power of data to improve the health and well-being for everyone in their community. The Dashboard features city- and neighborhood-specific data on measures of health and the factors that shape health to help cities understand gaps and target actions to create healthier, more equitable communities.

 

Qualifications: Applicants must have a doctorate in epidemiology, geography, demography, population health or a related field.  A solid publication record is an important selection criterion for this position.

 

Responsibilities:  Based out of the Department of Population Health at NYU School of Medicine, the Dashboard team is looking for a faculty member to direct the Metrics and Analytics team. The Director will lead research and foster analytic collaborations with the growing network of Dashboard partnerships. S/he will be responsible for overseeing the Metrics and Analytics team, including two analysts and a research associate, to support small-area estimation, novel measure development and supplemental analysis requests. The ideal candidate for this position will have expertise in geospatial methods, small area estimation, population health metrics, public health surveillance, data science and/or social epidemiology, as well as experience managing a team.

 

Professional environment:  The Division of Epidemiology is located in midtown Manhattan and is in the Department of Population Health, with more than 90 full-time faculty members in six divisions: Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Healthcare Delivery Science, Medical Ethics, Health and Behavior, and Comparative Effectiveness and Decision Science.
