Epidemiologist III/Epi Team Lead (Posting #366021): Epidemiologist III Under limited supervision of the Manager for Chronic Disease Epidemiology (CDE) branch within the Health Promotion and Chronic Disease Prevention Section (HPCDPS), performs advanced and senior-level epidemiological analysis and surveillance activities for the HPCDPS programs. Serves as Epidemiology Team lead for CDE branch. Oversees the initiation, planning and development of epidemiological projects related to chronic diseases and risk factors. Responsible for the implementation of policies and protocols to ensure completion of epidemiological projects and activities. Responsible for identifying and examining extant sources of data for chronic diseases. Oversees data collection and surveillance activities to ensure quality control. Assists the CDE Branch Manager and the HPCDPS Director in the coordination of epidemiological activities across the branch and section. Writes data and surveillance reports as required by internal and external management, funding sources, etc.

Epidemiologist II (Posting #374101): (filling three possible positions) Under limited supervision of the Manager of the Chronic Disease Epidemiology (CDE) Branch, within the Health Promotion and Chronic Disease Prevention (HPCDP) section performs data analysis and surveillance related to chronic disease programs with emphasis on tobacco prevention and control program. Responsible for identifying and examining population and clinical databases on tobacco and other chronic diseases and risk factors such as lack of physical activity and obesity. Work involves data collection, management, statistical data analysis, and presentation of the information to a variety of audiences. Writes data reports as required by CDE branch and the HPCDP Section programs. Identify trends in chronic disease burden, and assist in implementing plans for data analyses and dissemination. Works closely with CDE epidemiologists’ team lead, HPCDP section program staff and other internal and external partners. Works with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Participates in data user work groups as assigned.

Program Specialist V (Posting #371216): (filling two possible positions) Under limited supervision of the manager of the Chronic Disease Epidemiology (CDE) branch, performs program evaluation activities for chronic diseases programs including Tobacco Prevention and Control Program and Comprehensive Cancer Control Program. Work involves planning, monitoring and implementing evaluation plans and writing reports for chronic disease programs under the Health Promotion and Chronic Disease Prevention (HPCDP) section. Ensures accurate and timely data collection to capture appropriate outcome and process measures of community intervention projects. Responsible for developing logic models, evaluation data collection tools, monitoring data, and updating on evaluation related analyses and findings. Works with CDE and other HPCDP section program staff collaboratively to identify and resolve evaluation-related problems, and recommend appropriate solutions. Assists in development of grant applications and action plans for community program improvement. Works closely with CDE evaluators’ team lead on assigned tasks and deliverables and provides regular updates. Works with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
