Enterprise Intelligence and Data Service Research

The following ORISE research opportunity is now available with the Defense Health Agency, located in San Antonio TX.  This is a twelve month research appointment with the option to be renewed up to four additional years.  Please feel free to share this opportunity with students and recent graduates that might be interested in pursuing the following research internship with DHA.

Applicants must have experience in SAS, R, Python or other programming language and have received a master’s degree (MPH or MS) in Public Health, Informatics, Statistics, Mathematics, or related discipline within five years of desired starting date.
Intern participant will assist Enterprise Intelligence and Data Services providing support/assistance performing analysis, creating reports, analyzing data, etc. under the guidance of the Branch Chief and/or senior research informaticist. Intern assists with data queries, analysis, and integration of medical knowledge and analytical software applications; assists with development of clinical process improvement and outcome metrics; aggregates and analyzes population health data for the Defense Health Agency (DHA) and senior military leaders; assist in producing data for DHA Population Health Portal on a monthly basis and produce disease metrics related to the Military Health System; assist in standing up the health statistics portion of the Data Discovery, Analytics, and Research (DDAR) section; attend DDAR staff/project meetings; travel to attend symposiums or training conferences subject to availability of funding.
