Job Description:
The Epidemiologist II works independently under the direction of the Assessment, Compliance, and Evaluation (ACE) Group Manager within the Immunization Unit. Plans, develops, initiates, and conducts advanced epidemiological studies and surveys to determine immunization rates and vaccine coverage levels. Performs specialized (epidemiology and) evaluation studies related to immunization program activities and vaccine-preventable diseases (VPD). Serves as subject matter expert on vaccine recommendations. Maintains the vaccine schedule in the immunization registry. Presents to professional and lay audiences on a wide array of immunization topics. Conducts Immunization Unit program reviews and assesses the effectiveness of Unit data collection activities. Identifies methods for increasing vaccination coverage and assists with design, implementation, and evaluation of coverage improvement activities. Serves as the Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS) coordinator. Assesses vaccine adverse event data and communicates vaccine safety information to health professionals and the general public.
Initial Selection Criteria:
• Advanced degree (master’s level or above) from an accredited university in epidemiology, microbiology, infectious diseases, biostatistics, or a related field. • Two years of experience working as an epidemiologist in public health, preferably in immunizations or infectious disease.
