Health & Safety Professional 1 – Environmental Health & Safety

Forbes, Delta Sky and Travel + Leisure magazines have named UC one of the most beautiful campuses. #HottestCollegeinAmerica.  UC is one of the largest employers in the Cincinnati region, employing over 15,000 full time and part time faculty, staff, and student workers.  The Office of Environmental Health and Safety is looking for a Health and Safety Professional 1.  This position will report to the Director of Environmental Health & Safety and will support the University’s mission and commitment to excellence and diversity in our students, faculty, staff, and all our activities.

 

Under general supervision from the Director of Environmental Health and Safety, this position will assist in health and safety program development with emphasis on laboratory related issues and safety. This position will conduct audits of laboratories approved for biologics and/or chemicals and provide training and technical assistance for health and safety matters.  Perform necessary analysis/evaluations and make recommendations to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and best practices in relevant areas.  Assist in the generation and monitoring of inventories (chemical and/or biohazardous).  Maintain current knowledge of relevant regulations and rules and advise appropriate personnel of any governmental and/or university policy violations. Position will share on-call responsibilities on a rotation schedule.

 

Minimum Qualifications:  Bachelor’s degree with one (1) year experience -OR- Associates degree with three (3) years’ experience -OR- five (5) years’ experience.  Degree must be in Industrial Hygiene, Physical Science, Chemistry, or Biology.  Experience must be in basic or clinical research, health and safety, or compliance.
