Williams Science Hall 6/5 Update

Construction Activities:

All floors:

  • Hydronic piping for new Air handler underway; inspection pending
  • Painters have started priming on the upper floors
  • Tiling in the new restrooms is complete on 3rd and 4th, shifting to lower floors
  • Electrical and plumbing work is ongoing
  • IT closets are being outfitted from top down
  • Atrium ceiling framing is complete and dry-walled
  • Framing of feature wall – North side is in-process

Elevators and Elevator lobbies:

  • Both passenger elevators are temporarily shut down for construction activities in the lobby ceiling areas
  • 1st, 3rd, and 4th floor lobbies under construction
  • 2nd floor lobby phasing/timeframe is being discussed

Other:

  • Phase 1 & 2 final Key meetings to be scheduled week of 6/8  

Exterior:

  • EPHIS and other exterior work expected to start-up soon (weather permitting)
  • Framing for new glass at front entrance and 2nd floor break room area continues
    • Glass installation to follow

Safety:

  • Only authorized personnel in the construction areas and only with PPE
  • Please continue to report any issues (e.g. unexplained odors) as they arise

Schedule & Budget:

Phase 1 anticipated completion – TBD. A separate communication was sent referencing delayed construction schedule

  • 6/5 walk-through planned to review progress of last two weeks with increased manpower
    • New construction dates will be issued following a review of current status
  • Relocation schedule draft in-progress for Phase 2
  • Planning for Phase 2 lab work in occupied labs in-progress

Budget items: no new issues; change order #3 final pricing in process

  • Looking at bringing the 3rd party commissioning contractor onboard
  • Additional funding for card access on elevators secured
  • Tracking under budget currently, the shift to Phase 2, relocations, and final move-in pricing to be considered
    • Asbestos on Phase 2 – ??
    • No need for exhaust fan for 4th floor BSC
