*Domestic water shut-off this Saturday, 2/29, 8am to 4pm max.
- This includes the purified water system, however, the tank in the penthouse will be full so there will be supply through the entire shut-down.
- This includes restrooms, sinks, water fountains, etc.
** We are looking at a building electrical transition to new switchgear equipment on the week of March 23 – it will be 1 day only.**
*** We are looking at a building HVAC transition to the new exhaust unit April 13-17**
- This date may shift so we are over a weekend. 2-5 days anticipated.
- The existing building exhaust will have to be shut down for a period of time in order to connect to the new.
- I will schedule additional meetings with occupants as this will affect hood usage and general building occupancy for this window only.
Phase 1 update:
Construction:
- Noise levels are constant and vary day-to-day
- All floors:
- Demolition in atrium is ongoing
- Metal stud framing, walls and ceiling soffits, and drywall is being hung on all floors
- Steel
and ductwork installation is complete on the feature wall (north side)
- Framing and drywall complete on the south side feature wall – it looks great!
- Electrical and plumbing rough-ins – copper water line installation and conduit is ongoing
- Fire sprinkler system design is complete and installation starts next week – 3/2
- Teaching lab, 3rd floor, casework arrived!
Safety:
- Only authorized personnel in the construction areas and only with PPE
- Please continue to report any issues (e.g. unexplained odors) as they arise
Other issues/items:
- New building exhaust unit expected to arrive onsite by mid-March – a boom truck will be onsite to lift the units to the roof top.
Schedule & Budget:
- Phase 1 anticipated completion June 2020
- Lead time on glass railings should not impact occupant relocations as this affects the 1st and 2nd floors only.
- 3rd and 4th floor glass has a shorter time frame
- Exhaust fan and AHUs – March 9-13, approximate
- Exhaust transition to new unit April 13-17, approximate

- Phase 2 & Substantial Completion is August 2020
- Final completion: Fall 2020
- Budget items:
- Firewatch – currently absorbing in contingency
- Fume hood infrastructure for teaching and 4th floor vacant labs in SW corner
