Renovation of the McGoogan Library is progressing and new additions are starting to take shape. Library leadership have taken a hard hat tour and we can honestly say that this renovation is transformational! Photos courtesy of Multivista.
As you get off of the elevators on the 6th floor, you will be greeted by staff members of the AskUs Desk, who can help direct you to your destination, assist you with information questions, and check out materials to you.
AskUs staff will pop in to the anatomical model storage room to retrieve that brain you requested. You will be able to see all of our models displayed through windows.
Behind the AskUs desk is the new home for the Writing Center @UNMC. Writing tutors from the UNO Writing Center will staff the center during set hours. Make an appointment or drop-in!
Prototype your next invention or print an object to use for instruction. The Makerspace has a new home in the library and will expand services beyond 3D printing. Stay tuned!
Natural light will be made available on all floors of the library on the east side of the building, but the west side will have a floor to ceiling window overlooking the upcoming Wigton Heritage Center on the 6th floor. It’s going to be a great view!
Is there a study room available? Yes! We are increasing the number of study rooms from 16 to 55! Most will be individual, but there will be small group rooms available. All will be available to reserve from a new online booking system. Rooms will be located on the 6th and 7th floors.
Do you like studying out in the open but need a bit of a buffer? Try out the new library reading room on the 7th floor. It will be at the top of the staircase and will be enclosed.
Computers provided by ITS and student printers will also be available on the 7th floor and in an enclosed room.
