Williams Science Hall Update 11/15/19

WSH activities from this week and looking forward:

Phase 1 update:

Construction:

  • Noise levels are constant and vary day-to-day
  • Metal stud framing and drywall underway on all floors
    • 1st floor concrete was poured back, the metal stud framing is in place and even the plumbing for the eventual restrooms are installed. Exciting!
  • Ductwork installation underway on all floors
    • Blower tests passed inspection, exhaust is expected next.
  • Construction Phase 1 perimeter is in-process – no change this week.
    • 2nd floor is partially complete – an alternative plan was identified where the south entrance would remain open – more to come!
      • EVS closet relocation to 3rd floor
      • Alexey office – relocation to 3017
      • 3017 copier moving to 4010!!
    • 1st floor in process

Safety:

  • Only authorized personnel in the construction areas and only with PPE
  • Please continue to report any issues (e.g. unexplained odors) as they arise
    • On that note – I will try to notify everyone in the building of potential odors ahead of time.

Exterior Work:

  • North and West facades still need painted – no change in current temperatures
  • Emergency exit from 1st floor tunnel walkway almost complete – fence to be re-routed.

Other issues/items:

  • Alumni Relations team will relocate to 2nd floor (2003A and B) as their area is adjacent to the main vertical HVAC shaft and critical work will occur in their current suite.
    • Move is planned 12/12-13 at this time

Schedule & Budget: No change at this time.

  • Phase 1 anticipated completion was April 2020, at this time, incorporating Phase Final items is expected to push out ~60 days (June 2020)
    • Exhaust fan and AHUs – Spring 2020
  • Budget items: no change
    • Increased number of WAPs and impact – budget submitted
    • Firewatch
    • Minor floor plan changes reviewed, final, and moving forward
    • Fume hood ductwork for teaching lab
