Williams Science Hall 9-20-19 updates

Phase 1 update:

Construction:

  • Noise levels are constant and vary day-to-day
    • Jackhammering on level 1 for new restroom plumbing is complete (moving to upper floors)
  • Building “sweat” update – L1 and L2
    • Insulated ductwork from main vertical shaft to East (phase 2 area)
    • CRA was held for cutting/capping supply ductwork to West (atrium) – work on hold
    • Ceiling tiles are being monitored and changed out as needed
    • No other source was identified for the moisture issues
  • Metal stud framing underway on all floors
  • Construction Phase 1 perimeter will move in the next couple of weeks to capture the atrium space
    • “Sweaty” ductwork supplying the West side will then be inside the construction area for demolition
    • More to come on this as the team evaluates the new perimeter and exiting for occupants
  • CRA for steam shut-down scheduled for 9/25

Safety:

  • Only authorized personnel in the construction areas and only with PPE

Exterior Work:

  • South side, Area 2, is underway.  The façade was power-washed and caulking demo/replacement follows.

Other issues/items:

  • A wifi/connectivity issue was reported by one lab on the 4th floor – IT and Facilities working on cause and resolution.
  • TSQC has completed all training session and will move out of the building by the end of the month.

Schedule & Budget:

  • Phase 1 anticipated completion is April of 2020
    • Factor in atrium incorporation at this point
    • Exhaust fan and AHUs – Spring 2020
  • Budget items
    • HVAC Controls
    • Increased number of WAPs and impact – TBD
    • Firewatch
    • Minor floor plan changes under review (L2 and 3)
    • Fume hood ductwork for teaching lab
