{"id":1207,"date":"2024-11-25T08:00:00","date_gmt":"2024-11-25T14:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.unmc.edu\/alumni-association\/?p=1207"},"modified":"2024-11-08T12:05:35","modified_gmt":"2024-11-08T18:05:35","slug":"a-message-to-public-health-professionals","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.unmc.edu\/alumni-association\/a-message-to-public-health-professionals\/","title":{"rendered":"A Message to Public Health Professionals\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"panel body-content\"><div class=\"panel__container\">\n<p>Jessica Davies, MPH &#8217;21, is driven by a deep commitment to public health\u2014a field she feels found her rather than the other way around.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\" \/>\n\n\n\n<p>I am incredibly passionate about public health. I always say I didn\u2019t find public health, public health found me. When you\u2019re feeling burnt out, the best thing to do is find the areas that spark your passion for public health and do your best to return to that work. That\u2019s what we did with our staff at Panhandle Public Health when we were immersed in our COVID response. Ask yourself, \u201c<em>What was the reason I really want to be in public health?<\/em>\u201d Return to that.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For me, I build energy through working with diverse groups of people who are working toward a common goal, especially in the realm of public health. I also enjoy facilitating and leading community groups through action plans and then being a part of their work coming to fruition. That\u2019s ultimately where I build energy and what I go back to in my work.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It would be remiss to not say that there&#8217;s been tremendous moral injury from all that we&#8217;ve been part of in public health over the last few years.
