That was my first thought when I saw the article in UNMC Today about folks shaving their heads to raise money for cancer research. My second thought was, <em>How could I get in on it<\/em>? My hair\u2019s getting shaggy, and I\u00a0know several people with cancer including a family member who&#8217;s currently in the hospital, so it\u2019s really a no-brainer.<\/p>\n<p>You heard it right &#8211; I&#8217;m shaving my head in solidarity with children who have cancer and typically lose their hair during treatment, while raising critical funds for childhood cancer research!<\/p>\n<p>In the US, more children die of childhood cancer than any other disease. <strong>Please make a donation on my behalf to support childhood cancer research so that all children diagnosed with cancer will have a better chance for a cure.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-908  \" alt=\"Here's my &quot;Before&quot; picture!\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.unmc.edu\/alliedhealth\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/34\/2010\/07\/fran-0112.jpg\" width=\"259\" height=\"270\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.unmc.edu\/alliedhealth\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/34\/2010\/07\/fran-0112.jpg 540w, https:\/\/blog.unmc.edu\/alliedhealth\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/34\/2010\/07\/fran-0112-289x300.jpg 289w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 259px) 100vw, 259px\" \/><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This Friday, July 16th at 2:00 in the DRC Commons, I will be getting my head shaved.
