This past weekend was a busy one for our faculty and students in the radiation sciences!<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Lisa Bartenhagen, program director in the radiation therapy program, accompanied her students to Illinois for the Chicago Area Radiation Therapist 2010 Annual Conference & Student Registry Review April 16 \u2013 18, 2010.<\/span><\/p>\n

Results of the student essay competition were as follows:<\/span><\/p>\n

2 nd<\/sup> Place \u2013 Laura Zastrow (UNMC Radiation Therapy Program)
\nEssay entitled:\u00a0 <\/span>\u201cCarbon Ion Therapy\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

3 rd<\/sup> Place \u2013 Patti Moyer (UNMC Radiation Therapy Program)
\nEssay entitled:\u00a0 <\/span>\u201cBreast Cancer Treatment for Pregnant Women\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Meanwhile, here in Nebraska, the 79th<\/sup> Annual Conference of the Nebraska Society of Radiologic Technologists (NSRT) proved to be the best attended conference in its history. The conference took place in Grand Island from A<\/span>pril 15 \u2013 17, 2010.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

James Temme served as a representative for the American Society of Radiologic Technologists at the meeting and presented “Innovators and Their Innovations in Radiation Science Technology.”\u00a0 <\/span>Other faculty members in attendance included <\/span>Connie Mitchell, Tammy Jones, and Tanya Custer (NSRT Advisory Board member 2009-2011). <\/span><\/p>\n
