{"id":7154,"date":"2025-04-16T07:30:00","date_gmt":"2025-04-16T12:30:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.unmc.edu\/alliedhealth\/?p=7154"},"modified":"2025-04-15T09:42:28","modified_gmt":"2025-04-15T14:42:28","slug":"new-publication-reflects-value-of-campus-wide-collaboration","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.unmc.edu\/alliedhealth\/2025\/04\/16\/new-publication-reflects-value-of-campus-wide-collaboration\/","title":{"rendered":"New publication reflects value of campus-wide collaboration"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"panel body-content\"><div class=\"panel__container\">\n<p>Associate professor Iman Ahmad, PhD, recently published, &#8220;Synergistic effects of HO-1 inhibition and chemotherapy on tumor proliferation and immune infiltration: An in vitro and in vivo approach to enhancing prostate cancer treatment,&#8221; in <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sciencedirect.com\/science\/article\/pii\/S1936523325000701\">Translational Oncology<\/a><\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dr. Ahmad co-authored the publication with a graduate student from the College of Medicine, marking a successful co-supervision and a strong example of campus-wide collaboration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;The study explores the therapeutic potential of Heme oxygenase-1 (HO-1) inhibition in prostate cancer (PC), particularly in combination with Docetaxel. By reducing tumor proliferation, enhancing apoptosis, and modulating the tumor immune microenvironment, HO-1 inhibitors can significantly improve treatment responses and overcome chemoresistance.
