Sarah received the award at the annual meeting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;This is a huge honor, and we are so proud of her,&#8221; said program director Corrine Hanson, PhD. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Outstanding Dietetics Student Award recognizes the emerging leadership and achievement of students in ACEND-accredited and approved dietetics education programs and encourages their participation in the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sarah is a nutrition student completing her master\u2019s program at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. Sarah has a Bachelors in Health Promotion from University of Iowa <strong>and<\/strong> a Bachelor\u2019s of Science in Nutrition, Dietetics and Wellness from Northern Illinois University. She has worked at Northwestern Medicine as a nutrition assistant and was a cooking instructor teaching cooking classes for elementary school students. She has extensive volunteer experience and is considered an outstanding student in her Master\u2019s program. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>UNMC Assistant Professor Jana Ponce, PhD, said:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cSarah is emerging as a leader among her peers in the program. She demonstrates exceptional courage with her ability to always be the first to give input, ask questions, or dive in and try a new activity. Her leadership potential has caught the attention of faculty, preceptors, and interdisciplinary teams she has interacted with during her supervised experiential learning rotations.
