{"id":4153,"date":"2015-10-06T07:00:19","date_gmt":"2015-10-06T12:00:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.unmc.edu\/alliedhealth\/?p=4153"},"modified":"2016-08-30T11:42:49","modified_gmt":"2016-08-30T16:42:49","slug":"best-state-rankings-and-alumni-awards-from-apta","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.unmc.edu\/alliedhealth\/2015\/10\/06\/best-state-rankings-and-alumni-awards-from-apta\/","title":{"rendered":"&#8220;Best state&#8221; rankings and alumni awards from APTA"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"panel body-content\"><div class=\"panel__container\"><p>Where does Nebraska rank as the &#8220;best state in which to practice physical therapy?&#8221; Well, the America Physical Therapy Association (APTA) says we&#8217;re #3!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Overall Ranking: 3<\/strong><br \/>\nScore: 98.280<br \/>\nWell-being and Future Livability: 8<br \/>\nLiteracy and Health Literacy: 9<br \/>\nEmployment and Employment Projections: 30<br \/>\nBusiness and Practice Friendliness: 3<br \/>\nTechnology and Innovation: 23<br \/>\nAPTA Engagement: 5<br \/>\nCompensation and Cost of Living: 24<br \/>\nLack of Health Disparities: 13<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.apta.org\/PTinMotion\/2015\/10\/Feature\/BestStates\/\" target=\"_blank\">Full article&gt;&gt;<\/a><\/p>\n<p>In other APTA news, two of our PT alumni received the <strong>2015 Emerging Leader Award<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Kenneth Swantek<\/strong>, PT, DPT, Class of 2012, was nominated by the pediatrics section, and <strong>Sarah Droge<\/strong>, PT, DPT, Class of 2009, was nominated by the Nebraska chapter.<\/p>\n<p><em>Criteria for the award:<\/em><br \/>\nThe purpose of the Emerging Leader Award is to identify and honor one physical therapist or physical therapist assistant &#8220;emerging leader&#8221; from each APTA chapter or section who has demonstrated extraordinary service early in his or her physical therapy career. The individual should have made exceptional overall accomplishments and contributions to the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA), the component, and the physical therapy profession to advance APTA&#8217;s vision.<\/p>\n<p>The nominee must be a current member of APTA for at least five years and no more than 10 years from formal graduation.
