{"id":4023,"date":"2015-07-14T09:24:13","date_gmt":"2015-07-14T14:24:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.unmc.edu\/alliedhealth\/?p=4023"},"modified":"2016-04-05T09:43:29","modified_gmt":"2016-04-05T14:43:29","slug":"students-and-faculty-volunteer-at-owl-ride","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.unmc.edu\/alliedhealth\/2015\/07\/14\/students-and-faculty-volunteer-at-owl-ride\/","title":{"rendered":"Students and Faculty volunteer at OWL Ride"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"panel body-content\"><div class=\"panel__container\"><p>This past Saturday night, July 11, 9pm to 1am, students from UNMC&#8217;s COM, COP, and the College of Allied Health Professions (CAHP) were represented at the OWL Ride (Omaha With Lights).<\/p>\n<p>This is the 6th year for Omaha&#8217;s nighttime urban cycling adventure benefiting the Meyer Foundation for Disabilities (MFD). The Owl Ride route is 16.88 mile (short course 7.4 mile).<\/p>\n<p>Each year the SHARING clinics are asked for volunteers to provide first aid response for event bicyclers (&#8216;bikers&#8217;) at four &#8220;Medical Perches&#8221; and one &#8220;Mobile Perch.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>This year, one COM (Michael Visenio), two COP (Ross Kastrup and Jingjiang Wu) and 11 CAHP (two PA students Emma Frost-Briley and Benjamen Jones, and nine CLS students Jessica Chiaradia, Molly Finn, Jacqueline Clark, Christina Laczko, Jenae Bischoff, Tessa Retzlaff, Becca Tungate, Shaina Chamberlin, and Nicole Estopare ) students landed at the Lewis and Clark Landing, Midtown\/Turner Park, Aksarben Village, Field Club, and the mobile medical perches.<\/p>\n<p>Ricki Otten and Kevin McGuire were faculty facilitators.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Luckily we didn&#8217;t have any medical emergencies&#8230;.but we all had a &#8216;hooting&#8217; good time!&#8221; said Ricki.<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/blog.unmc.edu\/alliedhealth\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/34\/2015\/07\/owl-ride-2015-2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-4026 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.unmc.edu\/alliedhealth\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/34\/2015\/07\/owl-ride-2015-2-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"owl-ride-2015-2\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.unmc.edu\/alliedhealth\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/34\/2015\/07\/owl-ride-2015-2-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blog.unmc.edu\/alliedhealth\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/34\/2015\/07\/owl-ride-2015-2.jpg 640w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This past Saturday night, July 11, 9pm to 1am, students from UNMC&#8217;s COM, COP, and the College of Allied Health Professions (CAHP) were represented at the OWL Ride (Omaha With Lights).
