\u00a0Associate Dean Meyer asked that staff in the SAHP take note of this important opportunity:<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

To help increase accessibility for UNMC employees to jump-start or further their undergraduate education UNMC will be hosting UNO classes. The classes offered can be taken to complete a Bachelor of General Studies degree (BGS), a Bachelor of Science degree (BS), a Bachelor of Arts degree (BA), or just for fun!<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The BGS degree is a fully accredited 125 hour undergraduate degree program for students 21 and older. With a BGS degree, you can either choose to focus on one of over 40 areas of concentration ranging from Healthcare Administration to Theatre, or concentrate on three areas of emphasis. The BGS program also gives students the opportunity to complete their degree online. Another advantage to this program is that all credits previously earned at an accredited institution will count towards your degree. <\/span><\/p>\n

The following UNO courses will be available at UNMC this fall: <\/span><\/p>\n

\u2022\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span>BRCT 1050: Film History and Appreciation — Wednesdays from 5 to 7:50 p.m. in Bennett Hall, Room 2020. The course will be taught by Michael Krainak and will examine aesthetic values of the motion picture, the history of the film and survey the elements involved. 3 credits<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2022\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span>SPCH 1110: Public Speaking Fundamentals — Thursdays from 5 to 7:50 p.m. in Bennett Hall, Room 2020. The course will be taught by Angela Miller and will focus on basic principles of audience adaptation, invention, organization, development of ideas and presentation of speeches and the critical analysis of oral presentations. Each student will design and present a minimum of four public speeches. 3 credits<\/span><\/p>\n

Employees can use their Scholarship Credits to enroll in the classes. Employees have 15 credit hours per academic year to use at any of the four campuses, UNO, UNMC, UNL, or UNK.\u00a0 If you have questions about the employee scholarship program, please contact Jim Wiegel at 559-4216 or Tony Huerta at 559-4391.<\/span><\/p>\n
