{"id":1480,"date":"2011-04-29T11:03:53","date_gmt":"2011-04-29T17:03:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.unmc.edu\/alliedhealth\/?p=1480"},"modified":"2011-04-29T11:03:53","modified_gmt":"2011-04-29T17:03:53","slug":"unmc-administrator-appointed-to-national-advisory-committee","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.unmc.edu\/alliedhealth\/2011\/04\/29\/unmc-administrator-appointed-to-national-advisory-committee\/","title":{"rendered":"UNMC administrator appointed to national advisory committee"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"panel body-content\"><div class=\"panel__container\"><p><em>Will provide key voice for health care workforce needs of rural communities<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Patricia Hageman, Ph.D., professor and former program director of physical therapy education in the University of Nebraska Medical Center\u2019s School of Allied Health Professions, has been appointed to a three-year term on an external advisory committee for the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA).<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nDr. Hageman, who continues to serve as a UNMC faculty member in physical therapy education, \u00a0is the only Nebraskan on the 21-member committee appointed by Kathleen Sebelius, secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS).<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nThe committee provides policy and programming advice and recommendations to Sebelius and the DHHS with the goal of creating a diverse health care workforce that promotes high quality health care to underserved areas such as rural communities.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nDr. Hageman has dedicated her career to developing innovative solutions that meet the health care workforce needs of Nebraska, said Jack Turman Jr., Ph.D., program director of UNMC\u2019s Division of Physical Therapy Education.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u201cShe has worked on rural health initiatives, improved the quality of geriatric health care through outreach education to practitioners, and, through her research, enhanced the health status of Nebraska\u2019s midlife and older rural women,\u201d Dr. Turman said. \u00a0\u201cI am thrilled to see Dr. Hageman\u2019s knowledge, experience and skill recognized at the national level.
