2017 Annual CAHP Awards Ceremony and Forum

The annual College of Allied Health Professions Awards Ceremony will take place on Wednesday, May 3, 2017 from 1:05 p.m. to 2:00 p.m in MSC 3002.

Dawn Venema, PT, PhD, assistant professor in physical therapy education, and Ben Greenfield, MPS, LP, CCP, adjunct assistant professor in clinical perfusion education, will be honored for Excellence in Teaching. Nominees for this award must have a faculty appointment in the CAHP and demonstrate outstanding skills in directing learning, advising students, and facilitating effective interaction between faculty and students and between students.

The College will recognize Gregory Karst, PT, PhD, executive associate dean, for his Outstanding Service to the Allied Health Professions. Each year we award someone who has made extraordinary contributions in health care, education or service that result in the significant advancement of the College and the allied health professions.

The recipient of this year’s CAHP Innovative Scholarship Award is Maheswari (Manju) Mukherjee, PhD, MS, CT(ASCP)CM. The College established this award to recognize faculty who have made significant contributions to the advancement of teaching in health professions education through the development of innovation in the area of teaching, and who have disseminated their innovation, through presentations and publications.

Each spring, in conjunction with the awards ceremony, the CAHP sponsors a Forum on Evidence-Based Medicine. This will be the first year a concurrent poster session will run in Kearney at the Health Science Education Complex. Public viewing of the posters will be from 2:00-3:00 p.m. in the MSC Truhlsen Event Center in Omaha and in the HSEC Commons in Kearney.

The forum highlights faculty and student posters in three categories: educational exhibits, critical reviews, and research. This year, 103 students and 42 faculty will participate with 80 posters and seven E-Learning projects.
