Here’s Lookin’ at U

Ryan Shaw, one of our better Lookin’ at U’ers.

One of the most well-read things we do here, at UNMC Today, is our Lookin’ at U, which features a closer look at your fellow UNMC employees. People love it!

But it’s frustrating to come across someone who would be incredibly fascinating and fun for everyone to read about, only to have that person say, “Nah ….”

When this happens, we’re all missing out!

So, if you are asked to submit a Lookin’ at U profile, just play along and do it. You should be incredibly flattered. It means that we think it would make someone’s day just to read about you. That, or we’ve been turned down by 14 other people and are getting desperate. Either way, you’re going to be a star!

Now, I know it’s a lot of pressure to do a Lookin’ at U. The toughest part is probably coming up with “three things people may not know about you.” Yes, this might be a little daunting. I mean, what should you say?!

Really, you should try to come up with items that are specific to you. For example, our friend here in the PR department, Ryan Shaw, in his Lookin’ at U profile, noted that on his first date with his future wife, he ran over and destroyed his future in-laws’ recycling bin. Now, THAT is a great anecdote. The only problem being, a lot of people already knew this about Ryan, as it was all in the police report.*

*I’m obviously kidding! Those records have been sealed.

But that brings up another point. If you see someone from the PR department in a Lookin’ at U, it usually means we’ve been turned down by several people already and we’re so desperate for candidates we turn to our work neighbor and say, “Don’t try to get out if this, I know how to find you. Here, I’ll just fill it out for you …”

By now you are saying, “Hey. Nobody’s ever asked ME to be in Lookin’ at U. And I’m very fascinating and mysterious! Why, I probably have SIX things people don’t know about me! And I have a very charming and flattering photo of myself right here! How can I get in on the action?!”

Good question. Quit shouting at me and I’ll tell you.

Simply copy and paste the questions below, fill them out, and email them, along with the aforementioned awesome photo, to me at kalani.simpson@unmc.edu. We would love to have you. I know I would. Otherwise, I may have to resort to cornering my work neighbor.*

*Wait a minute. What do you mean someone in PR has already used Rich Watson for a Lookin’ at U? Oh, come on!!!
