  • The Douglas County Youth Corrections STI education project, funded by a grant from the MTV Staying Alive Foundation, began on April 2, 2013. Volunteers are visiting the youth facility every other week on Wednesday evenings. For more information, please contact Stephanie Brennan at stephanie.brennan@unmc.edu or Cole Boyle at cole.boyle@unmc.edu. We are in need of more student volunteers for this summer and fall! Two students will be going to Kenya for a capacity-building training in June.

  • The PHTC funded HIV screening pilot project, which offered free HIV screenings to the inmates being released from the jail, wrapped up on March 27, 2013. We were able to reach our target goal of 300 screenings. A special thanks to all the participating students, community partners, and DCDC staff for a successful project!

  • The Do JuSTIce 2011-2012 End of the Year picnic was success! A great way to celebrate another year of meaningful service learning!

A special thanks to Upstream Brewing Company for providing the Root Beer floats!
