NE DHHS 2013 Stem Cell Research Project
UNMC Internal Screening Deadline:  March 15, 2013

Summary

Principal Investigators (PIs) interested in submitting applications for the NE DHHS 2013 Stem Cell Research Project competition must first participate in UNMC’s internal screening by submitting a one-page project description and biosketch by March 15, 2013, to Dr. Ken Bayles. UNMC is allowed to submit only five applications for this project; an internal review committee will determine the five investigators who are invited to submit full applications to NE DHHS.

UNMC Internal Submission Process

Applicants must submit a one-page project description and biosketch to Dr. Bayles via email at kbayles@unmc.edu by March 15, 2013. Please submit as a PDF document.

Award

Up to $110,000 for a one-year period (July 1, 2013 to June 30, 2014)

 ·       Salary support for the PI, doctoral level co-investigators, and administrative/clerical assistance is unallowable

Note: UNMC requires an investigator to commit effort to a project for which s/he will serve as PI. To minimize cost-share, SPAdmin recommends committing no more than ten percent (10%).

·       Indirect costs are unallowable

Background

In 2008, the Nebraska State Legislature adopted the Stem Cell Research Act (LB 606), which established a Stem Cell Research Advisory Committee to facilitate awarding of grants to Nebraska institutions or researchers for conducting stem cell research that does not use human embryonic stem cells. A total of $448,269 is available for the 2012 competition.
