COPH Faculty Team Supports Nebraska Medicine in Clinical Effectiveness and Efficiency

Faculty members at the College of Public Health are supporting the Nebraska Medicine’s Clinical Enterprise for the Clinical Effectiveness and Efficiency (CE2) efforts. This effort is a part of one of the UNMC strategic goals to ensure that UNMC Colleges and Institutes are optimally integrated with Nebraska Medicine in the patient care settings. This effort will help towards reducing patients’ morbidity and mortality and healthcare costs, improving patient experience and health outcomes. Spotlight on Research at COPH – Dr. Islam is currently conducting a study that compares treatment preferences of patient groups that have been diagnosed with late-stage lung cancer living in rural and urban areas of Nebraska and South Dakota. Hongmei Wang, PhD: Research in Socioeconomic Determinants of Health and Economic Evaluation of Health Care Programs

Spotlight on Research at COPH – Dr. Wang’s research interests focus on socioeconomic determinants of health and health-related behaviors, medical care expenditures and insurance coverage, and economic evaluation of health care programs and medical intervention strategies. She is particularly interested in examining how individual choices, organizational schemes, and sociocultural structures collectively influence population health.
