“Achieving Healthy Equity: Addressing the Impacts of Racism on Health” is presented by Camara Phyllis Jones, MD, MPH, PhD.  Dr. Jones is an Adjunct Professor, Rollins School of Public Health (Emory University) and an Adjunct Professor, Morehouse School of Medicine.

Objectives:
1. Distinguish between three levels of health intervention (health services, addressing the social determinants of health, and addressing the social determinants of equity) and illustrate these using the “Cliff Analogy.”
2. Describe three levels of racism (institutionalized, personally-mediated, and internalized) and illustrate these with the “Gardener’s Tale” allegory.
3. Explore the health benefits of living “White” with data on “socially assigned race” and self-rated health from the Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System.
