College of Public Health Grand Rounds: “Hepatocellular Carcinoma in South Texas: An Epidemic?” presented by Brad H. Pollock, M.P.H., Ph.D.

Dr. Brad Pollock is Professor and the founding Chairman of the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics in the School of Medicine at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio (UTHSCSA). He holds Adjunct Professorships at the University of Texas School of Public Health, in the College of Business at the University of Texas at San Antonio, and in the Department of Statistics at Texas A&M University. He served as a cooperative group statistician for the former Pediatric Oncology Group (POG) and the successor Children’s Oncology Group (COG), was Chair of the POG Epidemiology Committee from 1991–2000 and Chair of the POG and COG Cancer Control Committees from 1995–2003, and has continuously served as Principal Investigator of the Community Clinical Oncology Program (CCOP) Research Base grant for POG and COG since 1995. Dr. Pollock directs the Biostatistics and Informatics Shared Resource for the P30-funded National Cancer Institute-designated Cancer Therapy & Research Center (CTRC), directs two cores for the NIH-funded Clinical Translational Science Award (CTSA) at UTHSCSA: the Biostatistics, Epidemiology and Research Design (BERD) Core; and the Biomedical Informatics Core. He is current Chair of the CTSA BERD Key Function Committee of the national CTSA consortium and began his 2-year term as President of the Association of Clinical Translational Statisticians on January 1, 2012. Dr. Pollock’s research concentration is in pediatric and adolescent oncology with emphases in cancer epidemiology and cancer prevention/control research.
