Region VII rounded out National Public Health Week with their second annual regional MINK conference held in Omaha, NE in cooperation with the University of Nebraska Medical Center’s College of Public Health and the Great Plains Public Health Training Center. (MINK stands for Missouri, Iowa, Nebraska, and Kansas).
Representatives from all four states in the region attended presentations and panel discussions about advocacy, workforce development, membership recruitment (presented by APHA Membership Development Director, Sara Miller), PHAB accreditation, and substance abuse and mental health (Laura Howard, SAMHSA regional administrator).
Jay Angoff, Region VII Director (Acting) and Capt. Jose Belardo, Region VII Health Administrator were featured speakers. Other presenters were Rex Archer, Bert Malone, and Kathleen Wojciehowski (Missouri); Louise Lex and Joy Harris (Iowa); David Lindley, Pat Lopez, and Brandon Grimm (Nebraska); and Elaine Schwartz and Eldonna Chesnut (Kansas).
