Speaker: Dr. Jennifer Pollock
Title: “You Don’t Have to Say NO to Succeed in Science!”
Dr. Pollock studies the effect of nitric oxide in mammalian cells. She is a respected, funded, and established scientist in the field. Dr. Pollock is a professor in the department of Pharmacology at the Medical College of Georgia. She will be coming to UNMC to address our graduate students about the challenges women face in science today. This is a spin-off topic from Dr. Yewdell’s seminar in the Spring of 2006.

Title: “Working in the Pharmaceutical Industry: Turning to the Dark Side or Doing the Lord’s Work”
Dr. Projan is the Vice-President and Head, Biological Technologies at Wyeth Research. Formely an associate professor at Hunter College, Dr. Projan offered a comparison between working in academia and industry. Dr. Projan kindly provided us with a copy of his presentation, which we are posting here on the site. In this presentation he gives pointers as to how to apply for a job in industry, the qualifications these companies are searching for in the job applicants, and the description of the industry field.
