Offutt Air Show Disaster Exercise
June 28 @ 9:30 am - 1:00 pm| Free
Offutt and the disaster response community is holding a disaster exercise on Saturday, June 28. The exercise scenario will be a plane crashing into a crowd watching the air show. Currently recruiting 75 volunteers to play family members of those who were at the air show and may be dead or injured. In this scenario, loved ones are directed to report to a Red Cross Family Assistance Center – which will be located at the Bellevue Christian Center– to find their loved one’s situation.
If you can assist with the drill, you will be given a role to play and act on during the exercise. This helps test those helping at the FAC in their response (how are people treated, processed, how is communication handled, how do they learn what happened to their loved one?) It is a critical part of the overall response. The more volunteers who can help, the more beneficial the exercise in testing the system and finding gaps.
The exercise will test the ability of the Red Cross’ Family Assistance Center to process, assist and communicate with family members of air show victims/survivors
