Service Fellowship in Health Statistics

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS) is seeking a Service Fellow to work in the Analytic Studies Branch of the Office of Analysis and Epidemiology. NCHS, located in Hyattsville, Maryland, is the principal health statistics agency in the United States, and its mission is to collect and compile accurate, relevant, and timely statistical information to guide actions and policies that improve the health of the American people.

The Service Fellow will primarily be responsible for all aspects of preparing and disseminating NCHS’ flagship report, Health, United States, both in print and electronic form. Responsibilities focus on the planning and development of the varied analytic products contained in Health, United States. Duties include updating the approximate 120 report trend tables from over 35 different data systems; creating graphics and text for the report Chartbook that presents key health indicators for health risk factors, health status, health care utilization, and personal health care expenditures; and creating online data products for the Health, United States user community. The Service Fellow will also provide technical consultation and advice to data users and colleagues and prepare standard and specialized studies for NCHS reports and journal publications.
