The NE Department of Corrections is seeking a full-time Physician to provide primary Health Care Services for individuals incarcerated within our Omaha facilities. The practice is primarily out-patient with flexible hours and minimal on-call responsibilities.

Perform patient care, including hospital rounds, taking call, and patient care documentation; serve as institutional Health Care Coordinator, serving as liaison with health care disciplines and custody staff and facility administration; coordinate all personnel involved in clinic and hospital and supervise Physician Assistants and/or nurse practitioners; coordinate and evaluate the overall operation of the facility clinic and hospital and work closely with the Medical Director.

REQUIREMENTS: M.D. degree and license to practice medicine in the state of Nebraska plus three years experience as a visiting physician at an approved hospital or two years of experience as a staff physician at an approved hospital. Knowledge of principles and practices of modern medicine and administrative methods; Ability to plan, organize and direct the work of medical, mid-level, nursing and auxiliary treatment personnel; to establish and maintain harmonious relationships with patients and members of the hospital staff; to communicate effectively.

PREFERRED: Experience working in a correctional environment. Selected candidate must successfully complete the NE Corrections Training Program and must pass a drug test and physical.
