NE DHHS is seeking a Foodborne Surveillance Coordinator. It is an up to 30 hr/wk temporary position with possible option to contract FTE in the future.
Assist in Office of Epidemiology disease investigation activities. Interview Nebraska residents with reported cases of foodborne and other reportable communicable diseases to capture investigation information. Data collection and database management. Refine usage of survey and data capture tools, and expand question sets used for all investigations of selected foodborne/enteric and other illnesses among Nebraska residents. Conduct literature searches and study demonstrated best practices applying knowledge gained to advance applied practice of epidemiology in Nebraska. Collaborate with Local Health Departments in conducting outbreak investigations and provide support. Coordinate investigative activities with Local Health Departments striving to maximize timeliness of follow-up with case patients. Any other assigned duty related to public health surveillance and investigative activities.
Bachelor’s Degree in Public Health, Statistics, or Health Education and several years of experience in data analysis, statistics, and interpretation of epidemiological data in the relevant disease/health subject area. Will consider currently enrolled in a health or related curriculum with anticipated graduation within 12 months.
