The State of Nebraska Department of Public Health is seeking a position to manage the Women’s and Lifespan Health Initiatives.
This position will develop and coordinates implementation of a work plan to assure fulfillment of DHHS responsibilities specified in the Women’s Health Initiative, NRS Section71-701. Determines methods, frequency, and collaborators for conducting strategic planning on women’s health, and carries out the planning activities accordingly; monitors implementation of plan and updates as needed. Designs, organizes, and oversees communication methods for sharing information on women’s health issues. Coordinates activities to assess policies, practices, and health data relevant to women’s health; documents and assures appropriate dissemination and utilization of findings. Determines need and feasibility for women’s health activities and projects, such as training and technical assistance for providers, public information campaigns, and pilot projects; develops and oversees implementation of plans for selected activities. With staff, facilitates the work of the Women’s Health Initiative Advisory Council in accordance with NRS Section 71-702, including scheduling of meetings, preparation of notices and minutes, monitoring terms and appointments, and related activities. Collaboratively establishes need for cross-unit activities in support of both women’s and lifespan health priorities; facilitates strategies to address identified needs. Develops and maintains knowledge of current issues and practices in public health and women’s health; provides consultation to internal and external stakeholders and performs liaison role as appropriate. Develops and monitors budgets, following federal and state guidelines for financial and grant management; assures appropriate expenditures of funds, including negotiating and drafting contracts. Supervises assigned staff. Represents the Agency on women’s health issues through participation on committees, speaking engagements, and other related means.
