The Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services is seeking a Dental Health Coordinator. Responsible for maintaining essential functions of the Office of Oral Health and Dentistry (OOHD), maximizing the reach and impact of planned oral health preventive interventions by efficiently managing available funding and partnering to leverage other resources, and actively seeking resources to sustain the OOHD. Develops and submits required progress reports to funding agency. Works with the Oral Health Advisory Panel to inform and develop program priorities and activities. Partners with oral health stakeholders to develop education and training for dental and non-dental health professionals. Facilitates the development of the Oral Health Coalition. Coordinates the work of the Dental Director, and Dental Health Staff Assistant positions. Designs and oversees oral health awareness and education activities including Children’s Dental Health Month and public oral health communication.
REQUIREMENTS: Coursework/training in public administration, health sciences and experience in an agency organization with responsibility for planning, implementation, budgeting, monitoring, evaluating, and marketing a program or service.
Knowledge of fundamentals of public health theory and program planning. Skilled in strong written and oral communication skills and group facilitation skills. Ability to analyze, evaluate data, interpret regulations and utilize computer based report preparation procedures.
PREFERRED: Bachelor Degree in health education, public health or similar field. Work experience in community health and/or public health. Education and/or experience may include application of population-based public health principles/practices; development and evaluation of public health programs; assessment of community health needs; design of educational materials and presentations; planning and facilitation of group sessions; grant writing; and progress report writing. Master of Public Health degree or related degree or certification desired.
