SIDEWALKS CLOSED – NEW ROUTE FOR PEDESTRIAN TRAFFIC
The construction contractor, Hausmann Construction Company, for the College of Pharmacy’s new building is putting up a construction fence around the job site. Several of the pedestrian walkways have been removed. Now, from Michael Sorrell Center to Student Life Center you can take the existing sidewalk to the north and follow the signage and it will direct you to the Student Life Center. (See path shown on attached map.)
The parking spaces located at the Michael Sorrell Center dock will be closed for the duration of the construction project.
Please use caution and observe any barricades and safety fences around the construction area.
If you have any questions, please contact Mic Tierney at 402-559-5261. Since it is vital that everyone working in and around the area be informed, please mention it your colleagues.
REMINDER – Construction Notice: M.U.D. work
Beginning the week of June 23, M.U.D will start installation of new utilities at Emile Street and 45th Street to serve the Fred & Pamela Buffett Cancer Center.
This will result in vehicle lane restrictions that may impact patients, faculty, staff and students. Work will take place in front of the Durham Outpatient Center circle drive and involve vehicular lane restrictions along Emile Street. During this time, those exiting the circle drive will be required to turn eastbound. Pedestrians will be required to use the Emile Street pedestrian walkway between Lot 50 and Durham Outpatient Center, shifted just east of its current location. Depending on water testing results, work in this area may extend into the first week of July.
Once the circle drive work is complete, crews will move west and start work at 45th Street, north of Emile Street. This work will take approximately two weeks to complete. One lane along 45th Street will be restricted for this work. Access to and from Green/Lot 2 Visitor Parking will be maintained at all times. Pedestrian traffic between Lot 50 and Durham Research Centers will be required to use the east walkway of 45th Street.
During construction, flagmen will be on site to direct traffic. Drivers and pedestrians are asked to exercise extreme caution and pay attention to posted signage, as lane restrictions and traffic direction changes will be ongoing. (Click on photo to enlarge.)
