New Staff Passageway to Bypass Construction Site
In an effort to improve construction site safety and positively impact the project schedule and budget, the pedestrian walkway along 45th Street is now closed. Employees are asked to bypass the Fred & Pamela Buffett Cancer Center project site by following the passageway from the Durham Outpatient Center (DOC) to Munroe-Meyer Institute (MMI) as outlined below. Directional signage has been posted to help navigate. Provisions have been made to accommodate MMI patients formerly using Lot 2 with supplemental parking and valet service.
Pedestrian access along 45th Street is anticipated to remain closed through October.

Change in Exit and Evacuation Plan
Construction will begin to redefine the exit and evacuation route for the Durham Outpatient Center (DOC) starting Monday, July 15, 2013. The modified plan is intended to create safe paths for exiting DOC around the Fred & Pamela Buffett Cancer Center project site.
Construction will take place July 15, 2013, through September 2013 and involve relocation of exit signs and changes in door swings. Upon completion, pedestrians will enter and exit to the South and East of the DOC building and traffic will reroute through Lot 2.
Managers of DOC clinics must become familiar with the attached map which details the changes in exit and evacuation paths. The modified routes will initiate in September and remain effective throughout the construction of the Fred & Pamela Buffett Cancer Center through mid-year 2015.
Start Date: July 15, 2013
End Date: September 2013 (day TBD)
Modified Exit and Evacuation Plan:
Start Date: September 2013, (day TBD)
