DURHAM RESEARCH CENTER – 1

Air Handling Units: 3A & 3B and Exhaust Fans: 1A,  1B & 1C Shutdown

UNMC’S Preventive Maintenance Shop will be doing their preventive maintenance checks for Durham Research Center-1 on Thursday, May 16 and Friday, May 17, both starting at 12:01 a.m. and ending at 6:00 a.m. (approximately).  This will affect the fume hoods and bio-safety cabinets on Level LA, in the animalDSCF0007 areas only.

If you have any questions, please contact Joe Clark at 402-559-1356.  Since it is vital that everyone in the Durham Research Center-1 be aware of the shutdown, please mention it to your colleagues.

 

 

 

 

 

BENNETT HALL – ELEVATOR SHUT-DOWN

On Saturday, May 11, 2013, Bennett Hall’s elevator will be out of service.  The purpose of the shut-down is to repair the granite tile in the elevator cab.

Shut-Down Schedule:

Commence Time:      Saturday, May 11, 2013, @ 8:30 a.m.

Completion Time:     Sunday, May 12, 2013, @ 8:30 a.m. (approximately)

If you have any questions, please contact Marvin Olson at 402-510-7245.  Since it is vital that everyone working in the building be advised of this, please mention the elevator shut-down to your colleagues.

WATER MAIN BREAK – 40th & EMILE/JONES STREETS

On Friday, May 3, 2013 there was a water main break at the intersection of 40th and Emile/Jones Streets.

The 40th street intersection of  Emile/Jones streets will be closed for approximately seven more days. Hopefully the road will open Tuesday, May 14.  “We’re waiting on the City to pave over the excavation site with concrete, according to Don Dickmeyer, project manager.”    The Student Life Center will be accessible during this time from 39th and Jones streets, and Parking Lot No. 21 will be accessible from 40th and Leavenworth streets.  If you have any questions or concerns, you may contact Don Dickmeyer at 559-7170.

Wittson Hall – Fire Alarm Pre-Testing for State Fire Marshal (Level 3)

On Monday, April 22, 2013, from 1:30 p.m. until 3:30 p.m., the Electrical shop will be testing the fire alarm notification system on the 3rd floor of Wittson Hall.  The test should last 2 hours (approximately).  Testing may be performed with audible alarms sounding and visible “strobe” alarms flashing.

The audible alarms may be heard throughout the building. You do not need to evacuate the building, when this disruption occurs.

TRAFFIC LANE CLOSING ON DEWEY AVENUE AND 45TH STREET

Beginning Monday, April 22, 2013, some of the first steps in the construction of the New Comprehensive Cancer Project will have a visual appearance on campus.  Site investigation of existing underground utilities will cause minor interruptions of vehicle and pedestrian traffic along Dewey Avenue and 45th Street (Durham Research Plaza).  This work will cause one lane of those streets to be closed for a few weeks at a time (see poster below).  All work should be completed before June 1, 2013, approximately.

Look for future notices concerning construction activities that will affect the campus as the construction work proceeds.

Please observe any temporary barricades and safety fences.
