STEAM INTERRUPTION (All Levels)
On Saturday, October 25, 2014, there will be a steam interruption (shut off) to all of Nebraska Medicine and UNMC buildings.
This interruption will affect all building systems dependent upon steam. This includes all domestic hot water to all kitchens, labs, bathrooms and showers. The steam shut off will also affect all sterilizers, autoclaves, glass washers, tunnel washers and cage washers in the buildings. It might also impact some temperature controls in most of the buildings. Building temperature will not be effected in DRC-1, DRC-2 or the Hixson Lied Building.
This interruption is necessary to repair a steam leak in the central Utility Plant.
Commence Time: Saturday, October 25, 2014 @ 9:00 a.m.
Completion/End Time: Saturday, October 25, 2014 @ 7:00 p.m. (Approximately)
If you have any questions, please contact Darren Dageforde at 402-559-5278 or Neal Buxcel at 402-559-1829. Since it is vital that everyone working on both the South and North campuses be advised of the steam interruption, please mention it to your colleagues.

ELECTRICAL POWER INTERRUPTION (All Levels)
On Thursday, October 23, 2014, there will be an extended interruption (shut off) of normal electrical power to select feeder circuits that serve all levels of the 4230 Building (Annex 10 – AX10). During this time, all “normal” power to AX10 automatic transfer switches will be disconnected and only items connected to the “emergency” power supply (the RED receptacles) will remain energized. Items connected to the “emergency” power supply will see two power blinks – one blink when transferring from “normal” to “emergency” power and another blink when transferring back to “normal” power. This work will not affect “normal” receptacle outlets, computers, and/or lighting that are not connected to “emergency” back-up power. Air handling units and exhaust fans that serve the ITS Data Center and animal containment facilities will be off for two brief periods during the power transfers, but will continue to operate. The air handling system that serves the office suites will not be affected during the entire term of the outage. If possible, it is recommended that computers and other pieces of sensitive electrical equipment be shut down prior to the scheduled electrical interruption as a safety precaution.
This shut off is required for routine performance testing of the automatic transfer switches per NFPA 110.
Commence Time: Thursday, October 23, 2014, 6:00 a.m.
Completion/End Time: Thursday, October 23, 2014, 7:00 a.m. (Approximately)
If you have any questions, please contact Dan Michalak at 402-559-5048 or Matt Monaghan at 402-559-7188. Since it is vital that everyone working in the affected areas be advised of this, please mention this electrical power interruption to your colleagues.
