4230 Building / Business Services Center (BSC) – Annex 10

ELECTRICAL POWER INTERRUPTION (All Levels)

On Saturday, May 31st, 2014, there will be an extended interruption (shut off) of normal electrical power to the main electrical switchboard that serves all levels of the UNMC 4230 Building / Business Services Center (BSC) – Annex 10.  During this time, normal power will be disconnected and only items connected to the emergency power supply will remain energized after experiencing several seconds without power and the automatic transfer switches operate.  This will cause an extended outage to all receptacle outlets, computers, lighting, air handling units, supply fans, exhaust fans, fume hoods, motors, etc. throughout the building.  Occupants of the 4230 Bldg. are encouraged to remove all food and personal items from refrigerators prior to leaving campus on Friday, May 30th.

The power outage is expected to last approximately sixteen (16) hours.  If possible, it is recommended that computers and other pieces of sensitive electrical equipment be shut down prior to the scheduled electrical interruption as a safety precaution.

This shut off is required to allow for electrical utilities work associated with the 4230 Building ITS Data Center Infrastructure Improvements project.

Completion/End Time:          Saturday, May 31st, 2014
                                                10:00 p.m. (2200 hrs.) approximately

Student Life Center (SLC) AHU-2 Interruption

Air Handling Unit-2 — Intermittent Interruption

 Facilities Management and Planning will have an intermittent interruption/shutdown of Air Handling Unit-2 in the Student Life Center (SLC-3908 Jones Street) on Thursday, May 22, 2014, from 7:30 a.m. through Friday, May 23, 2014, at 4:00 p.m. (approximately).  This interruption is necessary to perform repairs to the supply fan unit.  During this time air flow will be reduced and nonexistent at times.

The areas affected are only the 2nd floor offices:

  • No air movement at times
  • Temperature may fluctuate

If anyone has questions regarding this shutdown, please contact Marvin Olson at 402-510-7245 or Terry Vail at 402-381-7302, as soon as possible.  Since it is vital that everyone working on the  2nd  floor of the SLC building be aware of the shutdown, please  mention it to your colleagues.

ELECTRICAL POWER INTERRUPTION (All Levels)

On Thursday, May 22nd, 2014, there will be brief interruptions (shut offs) of normal electrical power to the main electrical switchboard that serves all levels of the following buildings:

  • Poynter Hall (PYH)
  • Munroe-Meyer Institute (MMI)
  • Parking Structure Lot #2 (PS2)

During this time, normal power will be disconnected and only items connected to the emergency power supply will remain energized after experiencing several seconds without power and the automatic transfer switches operate.  This will cause a power outage to all receptacle outlets, computers, lighting, air handling units, supply fans, exhaust fans, fume hoods, motors, etc. throughout each building.  Depending on the building, the power outage could be as short as a “blink” or last up to 5 minutes.  If possible, it is recommended that computers and other pieces of sensitive electrical equipment be shut down prior to the scheduled electrical interruption as a safety precaution.

This shut off is required to allow for electrical utilities work associated with construction of the Fred & Pamela Buffett Cancer Center.

Completion/End Time:      Thursday, May 22nd, 2014, 7:00 a.m. (0700 hrs.) approximately
